The Short Version

LocalBooks is a desktop application. Your financial data never leaves your computer. We do not collect, transmit, or store any of your bookkeeping data.

What Data We Do Not Collect

LocalBooks stores all data in a local database file on your machine. We have no access to:

• Your transactions, bank statements, or financial records
• Your account names, balances, or categories
• Any files you import into the application
• Any reports you generate

The application does not phone home, send analytics, or connect to any server during normal use.

What Data We Do Collect

When you purchase LocalBooks, our payment processor (Stripe) collects the information necessary to process your payment:

• Email address (for purchase confirmation and download link delivery)
• Payment information (handled entirely by Stripe — we do not see or store your card details)

We may use your email address to send important product updates, such as new version releases. We will not send marketing emails or share your email with third parties.

Landing Page

Our website uses basic Cloudflare analytics (page views, country-level visitor counts). No cookies are set for tracking purposes. We use a geolocation API to display pricing in your local currency — this request contains your IP address but is not stored by us.

Data Security

Because your data is stored locally on your computer, its security depends on your own device security practices. We recommend:

• Keeping regular backups of your data (the app has a built-in backup feature)
• Using your operating system's built-in encryption (e.g., BitLocker) if you handle sensitive financial data
